Educational needs are served by Harrisonville R-9 School District as well as several colleges and universities including University of Missouri – Kansas City, University of Central Missouri, Metropolitan Community College and Johnson County Community College. HISTORY
Harrisonville, the seat of Cass County, was founded in 1837. The town was named for Congressman Albert G. Harrison, who was instrumental in obtaining a land grant to create Harrisonville, MO. Robert A. Brown House, Harrisonville Courthouse Square Historic District and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church are distinct town structures located on the National Register of Historic Places.
